Hellooooooo!!! :hello2: Welcome to the forum, welcome to pole... and say goodbye to your free time!  Laughing

Not much advice on the upper body strength I'm afraid, much beyond keep practicing poling, it seems to build upper body strength better than anything else! Figure you may not have your own pole yet, maybe something like press ups would help? There's many more experienced people around who can give far better advice tho!

Welcome to Body & Pole. Great to have you on the forum.

As much pole as possible will help but give your body time to rest too. If you have no room for a pole in the house, how about a pull up bar or a sit up bar? You can usually attach them to a door or door frame. Apart from that if you can't get to a pole class more than once a week then other physical activities will help keep you fit and active so you are more prepared for your pole class Very Happy x

Hi welcome

I agree with everyone else - the best way to get the upper body stregth for pole dance is just practicing it - you'd be suprised how much it helps. Can you do any other circus aerial stuff? That's also really good.

Hello!
Plank is good for upper body strength - lie on the floor face down, push yourself up (your hands should be under your shoulder area to support you), and you should be balanced at the other end on your toes. Dont let your back sag, and hold that position for as long as you can. You will find your abs and possibly arms will start to shake a bit. Do a few of these a day and it will really help develop your upper body strength (you can do them sideways on one arm, too)
Lia
PS. They are horrible....

Thanks for the welcome guys. Yip i do have a pole (x pole).  But i get annoyed when i cant do the moves so ive hardly used it.   Sad  and for some reason i find it easier on the poles in my class rather than my x pole. Maybe im just not used to it yet. I suppose practise makes perfect!!  Very Happy
